MEMORISE: And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him. – 2 Kings 23:25

BIBLE READING: Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

MESSAGE:

Imagine a scenario where you did not contest for elections, but some how, you became the president of your country. How would you feel? Josiah was crowned king at the tender age of eight and had a great responsibility thrust upon his young shoulders. He inherited a kingdom that was prevalent in idolatry and disobedience but in 2 Chronicles 34:27, he got a positive response to his prayers as he humbly sought the face of the Almighty God.

When I became the General Overseer of RCCG at the age of 39, I faced great opposition from some elderly people in the church. They felt I was inexperienced and too young to lead a denomination they started while I was not yet born again. I did not fight them or become rude to them; instead, I ran to God in prayers.

My dear child, if you are privileged to lead a team of people, including those who are older than you, you must turn to the wisdom of God’s word and embrace the power of prayer to lead you through the trials and tribulations that may arise in the course of leadership.

KEY POINT:

You need God’s wisdom and power to lead.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Isaiah 28:14-30:11; Galatians 3:23-4:31

HYMN 33 – Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah!

1 Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah!

Pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but Thou art mighty,

Hold me with Thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven! Bread of heaven!

Feed me now and evermore,

Feed me now and evermore.

2 Open Thou the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing stream doth flow:

Let the fiery, cloudy pillar,

Lead me all my journey through:

Strong deliverer! Strong deliverer!

Be Thou still my strength and shield,

Be Thou still my strength and shield.

3 If I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside:

Bear me through the swelling torrent,

Land me safe on Canaan’s side:

Songs of praises! Song of praises!

I will ever give to Thee,

I will ever give to Thee.

4 Saviour, come! we long to see Thee,

Long to dwell with Thee above;

And to know in full communion,

All the sweetness of Thy love,

Come, Lord Jesus! Come Lord Jesus!

Take Thy waiting people home,

Take Thy waiting people home.

Reflection And Commentary

Hannah’s testimony teaches that God responds to heartfelt prayers. No matter the pressure or mockery, faith expressed in prayer will always bring results. Teens should learn to channel their emotions into prayer rather than complaints.

Hannah’s story is a reminder that silence before men can be powerful if it is coupled with deep cries to God. Her victory was not in arguing with her adversary but in pouring her heart before the Lord. Every teen who desires a turnaround must learn that true strength is found at the altar of prayer.

Call to Action

Take time today to pray about that thing troubling you. Don’t just complain pray like Hannah, believe like Hannah, and you too will rejoice like Hannah.

Salvation Message

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day of salvation. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I come before You with a repentant heart. Please forgive me of all my sins. Today, I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Come into my life and save my soul. Thank You for saving me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
