7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.God-themed merchandise

9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.God-themed merchandise

MESSAGE:

Today, many people, especially young people, do not understand what it means to do things in moderation. Some think that moderation should only be applied to certain aspects of their lives, like dressing, but they throw caution to the wind when it comes to other things.

This is why some people will go to a party and eat like gluttons; they will ask to be served everything prepared for guests. This is wrong! Too much of everything is bad.

When you do anything excessively, you are carnal, and the word of God teaches us to shun a life that pleases the flesh (Romans 8:13). Control your flesh and ensure that it is not indulging in things that are not beneficial to you. If you always do whatever you feel like doing, your flesh will begin to control you. For example, if you eat too much or eat when you should be fasting, you might be putting your life in danger. If you sleep when you should be reading or working, you run the risk of becoming a failure and slipping into poverty. If you talk when you ought to be quiet, you might get into trouble. My dear child, learn to discipline yourself to do things in moderation in every aspect of your life.God-themed merchandise

Quiz: The fruit of the Spirit that helps a believer live in moderation is………….

KEY POINT:

I refuse to do things excessively. I receive grace to be moderate in all things, in Jesus’ name.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Isaiah 54:1-57:14, Ephesians 6:1-24

HYMN 33 – Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah!

1 Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah!

Pilgrim through this barren land;

I am weak, but Thou art mighty,

Hold me with Thy powerful hand:

Bread of heaven! Bread of heaven!

Feed me now and evermore,

Feed me now and evermore.

2 Open Thou the crystal fountain,

Whence the healing stream doth flow:

Let the fiery, cloudy pillar,

Lead me all my journey through:

Strong deliverer! Strong deliverer!

Be Thou still my strength and shield,

Be Thou still my strength and shield.

3 If I tread the verge of Jordan,

Bid my anxious fears subside:

Bear me through the swelling torrent,

Land me safe on Canaan’s side:

Songs of praises! Song of praises!

I will ever give to Thee,

I will ever give to Thee.

4 Saviour, come! we long to see Thee,

Long to dwell with Thee above;

And to know in full communion,

All the sweetness of Thy love,

Come, Lord Jesus! Come Lord Jesus!

Take Thy waiting people home,

Take Thy waiting people home.
