BIBLE READING:

1 Samuel 1:10-20

10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli marked her mouth.

13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.

15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.

16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.

17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.

18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

19 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.

20 Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.

MESSAGE:

Women go through a lot of ridicule and mockery due to many issues, but only some of them stand strong in the face of such challenges. One of such women was Hannah, who prayed to God with great faith and all her strength. When Peninnah mocked her, rather than insult or fight back, Hannah poured out her soul before the Lord, crying for a child. At the appointed time, God heard her heartfelt cry and blessed her with six children, including Prophet Samuel.

When people abuse or insult you over what is beyond your control, you do not need to fight them; rather, run to God for comfort and strength and remain steadfast in Him. When people mocked me for having a vision of building the largest auditorium for God’s church, I ran to Him for help and prayed fervently until He sent destiny helpers and resources for the project.

My dear child, whenever you are faced with challenges or obstacles, learn from Hannah; do not fight your enemies physically. Instead, go on your knees and pray to God until an answer comes.

HYMN 50 – Conquerors And Overcomers Now Are We

1 Conquerors And Overcomers Now Are We,

Thro’ The Precious Blood Of Christ We’ve Victory

If The Lord Be For Us, We Can Never Fail,

Nothing ‘Gainst His Mighty Pow’r Can E’er Prevail.

Refrain:

Conquerors Are We, Through The Blood Of Jesus,

God Wil Give Us Victory,

Through The Blood Of Jesus,

Thro’ The Lamb For Sinners Slain,

Yet Who Lives And Reigns Again,

More Than Conquerors Are We,

More Than Conquerors Are We.

2 In The Name Of Israel’s God We’ll Onward Press,

Overcoming Sin And All Unrighteousness;

Not To Us, But Unto Him The Praise Shall Be,

For Salvation And For Blood Bought Victory.

3 Unto Him That Overcometh Shall Be Given,

Here To Eat Of Hidden Manna Sent From Heav’n,

Over Yonder He The Victors Palm Shall Bear,

And A Robe Of White, And Golden Crown Shall Wear.

Reflection And Commentary

Hannah’s testimony teaches that God responds to heartfelt prayers. No matter the pressure or mockery, faith expressed in prayer will always bring results. Teens should learn to channel their emotions into prayer rather than complaints.

Hannah’s story is a reminder that silence before men can be powerful if it is coupled with deep cries to God. Her victory was not in arguing with her adversary but in pouring her heart before the Lord. Every teen who desires a turnaround must learn that true strength is found at the altar of prayer.

Call to Action

Take time today to pray about that thing troubling you. Don’t just complain pray like Hannah, believe like Hannah, and you too will rejoice like Hannah.

Salvation Message

If you have never received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, today is the day of salvation. Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Say this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I come before You with a repentant heart. Please forgive me of all my sins. Today, I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Come into my life and save my soul. Thank You for saving me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
