BIBLE READING: Acts 16:25-26 (KJV)

25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.

MESSAGE:

Years ago, I told a former president of Nigeria that I wanted permission to enter some Nigerian prisons. He told me that I did not need permission; I should only commit a crime, and then the prison doors would be opened for me to enter. I found it funny because l only wanted to go and preach the gospel of Christ to some of the inmates.

Like many prisoners today who are in prison even though they did not cause any harm and are innocent of any crime, Paul and Silas found themselves in prison because they were preaching about Jesus. While they were locked up, they chose to pray and praise God despite their adversity. They sang all through the night until God intervened miraculously; He shook the foundations of the prison and broke their chains. This divine intervention not only freed them but also led to the salvation of the jailer.

My dear child, prayer is a powerful weapon you must not joke with, especially in this perverse generation. When you pray and God answers you, people will be moved to serve your God.

KEY POINT:

Father, please perform a miracle in my life that will draw people to You.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Isaiah 19:1-21:17, Galatians 2:1-16

HYMN 4 – Be Glad In The Lord And Rejoice

1 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,

All ye that are upright in heart;

And ye that have made him your choice,

Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

Refrain:

Rejoice, rejoice!

Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!

2 Be joyful, for He is the Lord,

On earth and in heaven supreme;

He fashions and rules by His word;

The Mighty and strong to redeem

3 What though in the conffict for right

Your enemies almost prevail,

God’s armies, just hid from your sight,

Are more than the foes which assail.

4 Though darkness surround you by day,

Your sky by the night be o’ercast,

Let nothing your spirit dismay,

But trust till the danger is past.

5 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,

His praises proclaiming in song;

With harp, and with organ and voice

The loud hallelujahs prolong!

Lord Jesus, I come before You with a repentant heart. Please forgive me of all my sins. Today, I accept You as my personal Lord and Saviour. Come into my life and save my soul. Thank You for saving me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
