MEMORY VERSE: “Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.” – Luke 5:4 (KJV)

BIBLE TEXT: Luke 5:1-6 (KJV)

1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: To launch out is to send forth or to release something. Deep means reaching or advancing far down. Christ called us out and He invited us to launch out into the deep. The storm may be raging, but if you are where Christ has called you to be and you are doing what He called you to do, He will see you through.

LESSON AIM: To make members understand that obeying what God says initiates final settlement.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to know: that the storm may be raging but allow God to take over.

TEXT REVIEW: Luke 5:1-6

a. First step to breakthrough is releasing your all to God.

b. Never let your present situation dampen your future anticipation.

c. Obeying God’s directive is the key to unending joy.

d. No matter where you are, God will find you.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: THE STORM MAY BE RAGING

The storm may be raging high, the wave maybe overwhelming but know that Jesus is not asleep in your boat; He is the present help in trouble – Psalms 46:1.

WHAT TO DO WHEN THE STORM OF LIFE IS RAGING

i. Avoid ignorance. Know the fact about the storm of life but do not be burdened by the information received – Hosea 4:6.

ii. Speak to the storm – Mark 4:35-41.

iii. Let nothing steal your peace – Luke 4:27.

iv. Remain thankful to God – I Thessalonians 5:17.

v. Know where you stand with your Creator – Daniel 3:17-18, Job 19:25.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: ALLOW GOD, TRY GOD – PROVERBS 3:5-6

HOW TO ALLOW GOD?

i. Always be in prayer, i.e. communicate with God – Luke 18:1.

ii. Study God’s word, meditate and confess the word – Joshua 1:8.

iii. Follow the commands God put into your heart.

iv. Seek godly counsel – Proverbs 11:14.

v. Learn to forgive – Matthew 5:7.

ACTIVITY: Mention biblical characters that faced storms and later overcame.

SUMMARY: Precious and valuable things cannot be gotten from shallowness.

CONCLUSION: There are so many things God wants to reveal to us, but until we launch out into the deep, He will not. If we operate from the deep, there will be signs and wonders, secret and classified information will be revealed. As children of God, let us go deeper in our relationship and walk with God.
